[DEI in 5] Biweekly DEI News

I’ve spent nearly two hours typing, deleting, and retyping this intro for the first DEI in 5 newsletter. In all honesty, my heart is still heavy from the latest mass shooting in Jacksonville, FL—one that, without a doubt, was a racially motivated hate crime. I send my thoughts and prayers to the loved ones of the victims, but I know that’s not enough—that doesn’t bring back their loved ones. That doesn’t fill the void. Many of us vote, advocate for stricter gun laws, spread awareness about mental health, but clearly, it’s not enough. More has to be done. But what? What else can we do? If you have thoughts, reply back and lmk.
With that said, welcome to the new DEI in 5 newsletter—a seamless extension of the DEI in 5 YouTube podcast series. Here you’ll find biweekly updates on all things related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, updates on the podcast, and some occasional commentary from me.
Without further ado, check it out 👇🏾

Bringing DEI To The Forefront Of Healthcare Marketing [Forbes]: “The pandemic laid bare many uncomfortable truths about healthcare disparity throughout the world, including here in the United States. The virus’s disproportional impact on communities that have been marginalized—racial and ethnic minorities, low-income populations, and people with underlying health conditions—placed a very public spotlight on the systemic inequities contributing to unequal access to healthcare and health resources.”
